Born on May 12, 1978, the gorgeous Malin Akerman is a Swedish Canadian actress, model and singer. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden and she holds dual Swedish and Canadian nationality. Her father Magnus Akerman was an insurance broker and her mother Pia Sundstrom was an aerobics teacher, and part-time model. The family moved to Canada when she was two years of age. Four years passed when her parents got divorced and both got remarried. Malin got one half brother and two half-sisters.
Since she was the daughter of a model and aerobics dance teacher, she was influenced by acting since her childhood and her mother taught her basics of modeling when she was still a primary school student.
She wasn’t keen to do modeling and acting initially, but, later she decided to join modeling and was found by Ford Models in a St. Catharines shopping Mall. She was 18, when she chose to become a lady psychologist and had supported her education at York University by doing modeling for TV shoots and catalogue layouts.
While still a student, she landed a guest role in TV and she found that she enjoyed acting and decided to follow an acting career. She then made the move to Los Angeles, California in the year 2001 to achieve her dreams and passion. She debuted on the Canadian Science Fiction television series Earth in 1997. Then she was seen in various films and TV shows.
In the year 2000, she appeared on Relic Hunter and played a minor role in an American film titled The Skrulls. She has also worked as a waitress and lived at a friend’s house when she was facing tough times. She repeatedly appeared in a low rated movie for a long time.
