In 1932, she appeared in the role of Jane Miller in the film, She Wanted a Millionaire. She got fame for her role as Amy in the film, Little Women in 1933. She was praised widely for her performance as Brenda Bentley in The House Across the Bay in 1940. After the shot scandal, she appeared in the role of Bettina Blane in the television series, General Electric Theatre in 1954. She appeared in the Broadway production of Love Me Little in 1958. Her autobiography, The Bennett Playbill was released in 1970. Her last film appearance was in the horror film, Suspiria in 1977. Her film credits are Moby Dick, Crazy That Way, Many a Slip, Power, The Texans, Desire in the Dust, Highway Dragnet, House of Dark Shadow, Scarlet Street, and many more.
On 7th December in 1990, she died of heart failure at the age of 80.
