Born as Normani Kordei Hamilton on May 31, 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia, she is an American singer, songwriter and dancer renowned as Normani. She also has two older half-sisters. Normani was raised in New Orleans. She and her family relocated to Houston, Texas after the Hurricane Katrina in 2005. From an early age, Normani used to compete in dance, gymnastics and beauty pageants. She used to perform gospel music as a child and she recorded her first song at the age of 13.
Normani gave auditions for the second season of The X Factor USA in 2012 with “Chain of Fools” by Aretha Franklin. She progressed to the next round after all the four judges approved her, but, she was eliminated in the second round of boot camp. That was the end of her run as a solo artist on X Factor, but, she was reintroduced on the show and grouped with four other girls, Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane, and Camila Cabello, who later beame Fifth Harmony. The group ended the show in the third position.
In October 2013, Fifth Harmony released their first EP, ‘Better Together.’ Their debut album Reflection came out in 2015 and the second album, 7/27 came out in 2016, which led to the hit singles “Worth It” and “Work From Home”, respectively. Her song with Sam Smith, “Dancing With A Stranger” came out in January 2019, and Normani’s debut solo album is set to be released in early 2019 by RCA/keep Cool Records.
