Born as Amanda Catherine Crew on June 5, 1986 in Langley, British Columbia, she is a Canadian actress. Amanda’s mother is a legal secretary and her father is a telecom worker. She started acting after being cast in the musical Dragon Tales in grade five. This resulted in a talent agency representation and commercials. She went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. She is famous for her portrayal of Monica Hall in the HBO sitcom Sillicon Valley (2014-present). After debuting in Final Destination 3 (2006), she played lead roles as Felicia Alpine in Sex Drive (2008) and Tess Carroll in Charlie St. Cloud (2010), and also as Carrie Miller on the TV series Whistler (2006-2008).
She was 19 when she got her first onscreen acting gig as Polly Brewer in the ABC teen drama Life As We Know It. In 2006, she debuted on the big screen in the supernatural horror movie Final Destination 3 and in 2008 Crew was cast in her first lead role in the teen road comedy Sex Drive, co-starring James Marsden and Seth Green. She played the role of Felicia Alpine, a high-school student who embarks on a road trip with her two best friends. In 2018, Crew appeared with Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern in a sci-fi thriller titled Freaks where she plays the role of the mother of a young girl who has telekinetic powers. The movie premiered in the Discovery section at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2018, and it was nominated for Best Canadian Film. She also co-starred with Adam Brody in a horror movie Isabelle, where she played a woman who starts seeing a supernatural being after the death of her stillborn son. The movie premiered in the Midnight Passion section at the Busan International Film Festival on October 6, 2018.
Amanda Crew is set to co-star with Robert Patrick and Ray Wise in another horror movie Tone Daf. The film is expected to release sometime in 2019.
