Born as Farrah Leni Fawcett on February 2, 1947 in Corpus Christi, Texas, she was an Amerian actress, model and artist. She started her career in 1960 when she appeared in commercials and guest roles on television. In the 1970s she made numerous television series’ appearances including recurring roles on Harry O (1974-1976), and The Six Million Dollar Man (1974-1978), with her first husband, film and TV star Lee Majors. Her big break was in 1976 when she was cast to play Jill Munroe in the ABC series Charlie’s Angels,
alongside Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith. The show catapulted the trio to great fame, especially Fawcett. She appeared in only the first season and then decided to leave the show causing legal disputes. She ultimately signed a contract that needed her to make six
guest appearances in the season three and four of the show. For her performance in Charlie’s Angels, she received her first Golden
Globe nomination.
In 1983, Fawcett was positively reviewed for her Off-Broadway play Extremities. She was later cast in the 1986 movie version of the same and received a Golden Globe nomination. She was also nominated twice for Emmy Awards for her roles in TV movies, one as a
tormented wife in The
Burning Bed (1984), and the other as the real-life killer Diane Downs in Small Sacrifices (1989). Her work in the TV films also got her nominated four more times for Golden Globe Awards.
Back in 1997, she was subjected to some negative publicity for a rambling appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman, but, her movie The Apostle got her strong reviews. She kept working in various TV series such as the sitcom Spin City (2001), and the drama
The Guardian (2002-2003). The latter brought to her a third Emmy nomination. She also acted in movies like Love Is a Funny Thing (1969), Myra Breckinridge (1970), Logan’s Run (1976), Sunburn (1979), Saturn 3 (1980), The Cannonball Run (1981), Extremities (1986),
The Apostle (1997), and Dr. T & the Women (2000). In 1996, she was ranked number 26 on TV Guide’s “50 Greatest TV Stars of All-
Time.”
In 2006, Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer, and she died three years later. The 2009 NBC documentary, Farrah’s Story was based on her battle with the dreaded disease. She was posthumously nominated for an Emmy as a producer on the documentary. These sexy
