Kristen Wiig was born on August 22, 1973, in Canandaigua, New York. Her father is Jon Wiig and Laurie Johnston. She has Norwegian, Irish, English and Scottish ancestry. She returned to host the program on May 11, 2013 and continued to do several more appearances on future SNL shows.
At the 2015 Grammy Awards, she danced alongside child dancer Maddie Ziegler for Sia’s performance of “Chandelier.” She acted in the movies, Unaccompanied Minors, Knocked Up as a passive-aggressive assistant and had small roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Ghost Town. She lent her voice to the animated movies Despicable Me and How to Train Your Dragon. Later in 2011, she starred in the hit comedy film Bridesmaids which was nominated for Best Picture- Musical or Comedy and Best Actress-Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy at the 69th Golden Globe Awards. The film also received two Academy Award nominations for Best Original Screenplay and for co-star, Melissa McCarthy, for Best Supporting Actress.
In March 2018, it was announced that the actress would be playing the villain the Cheetah in the next Wonder Woman film. The movie is titled Wonder Woman 1984. There are many versions of the villain, the most popular version of Cheetah being Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva.
