Born as Patsy Ann McClenny on February 3, 1950 in Dallas Texas, she is an American actress. Fairchild has a younger sister, Cathryn Hartt, who also happens to be an actress. As a child, she was seen on WFAA’s Mr Peppermint Show hosted by Jerry Haynes. During her teenage, she was in the audience on WFAA’s Sump’n Else bandstand show. She gave three auditions to be a part of The Little Group, which was the show’s dance group. In this period, she also appeared in various locally aired commercials on Dallas-Fort Worth television stations. During her childhood, she suffered from a bout of scarlet fever, which rendered her partly deaf.
Fairchild got her first acting assignment as a double for Faye Dunaway during the filming of Bonnie and Clyde (1967), especially in the scenes where Bonnie is seen driving a car, because Dunaway wasn’t able to drive. She picked up her new first name ‘Morgan’ from a David Warner film Morgan – A Suitable Case For Treatment (1966). Fairchild relocated to New York City, where she grabbed her first onscreen credited appearance in the daytime soap opera Search For Tomorrow from 1973 until 1977. She also started making numerous appearances on episodic primetime TV shows like Kojak, Happy Days, Police Woman, and some episodes of CBS Radio Mystery Theater from the mid 1970s onwards.
Fairchild appeared on the primetime soap opera Dallas as the first actress to play the role of Jenna Wade, and then took a lead role on the NBC series Flamingo Road in 1980 (she received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress-Television Series Drama nomination for this). In 1984, she was seen on ABC’s short-run television drama Paper Dolls, and then she appeared on Falcon Crest as attorney Jordan Roberts from 1985 to 1986. Fairchild has also done theater performances and played guest roles on TV comedy shows such as Murphy Brown (a role for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series), Roseanne, Cybill and Friends. Fairchild is a board member of SAG-AFTRA.
