Born as Rebecca Quin on January 30, 1987 in Limerick, Ireland, she is an Irish professional wrestler. She grew up in Dublin and her parents had separated when she was one year old. She started following professional wrestling from an early age along with her brother Richy, who later wrestled under the ring name Gonzo de Mondo. She was also involved in horse riding, swimming, and basketball. However, she claims that she had failed P.E. in school. Quin attended university to study philosophy, history and politics, but, says that she “really hated it” and eventually dropped out.
She planned to go back to college to study health and exercise studies. Before starting her training as a wrestler, she mentioned that she had been “going down a bad path” and was into alcohol, but, wrestling helped her get rid of it. She is now signed to WWE and has the ring name Becky Lynch, where she performs for their SmackDown brand. Quin’s professional wrestling training started in June 2002. At the start, she worked in Ireland and at times teamed up with her brother under the ring name Rebecca Knox, she soon ventured into the rest of Europe and North America on the independent circuit, wrestling regularly for a number of promotions. She most famously competed in Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling and beame the first wrestler to win the SuperGirls Championship in June 2005.
In September 2006, Quin was severely injured in the head during a match in Germany which pushed her away from professional wrestling for a number of years. She made a comeback in late 2012, and signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2013, reporting to their developmental territory NXT.
