Born on June 17, 1986 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Marie Avgeropoulos is a Canadian actress and model. She spent her early years fishing, hunting and camping, and most of her free time was spent outdoors. Avgeropoulos started playing drums at the age of 16. After she studied broadcast journalism for two years in her hometown, Avgeropoulos moved to Europe. After several months, she returned to Canada and started living in Vancouver.
A friend of hers, invited her for a casting call which happened to be looking for drummers. A talent agent spotted her talent and asked her to appear in several national commercials. She was noticed by the director Chris Columbus. He hired Avgeropoulos for I Love You Beth Cooper, which was her first movie role. Her appearance in the movie paved way for futher movie and television show roles. She was cast as Kim Rhodes in the movie Hunt to Kill in 2010, and it turned out to be her breakout role.
In early 2013, Avgeropoulos made her television breakthrough after she bagged a recurring role in The CW’s Cult. However, the series couldn’t attract the viewers, and the show got cancelled after seven episodes. The remaining six episodes of the show got broadcast later in the summer.
Soon after the show ended, The CW cast her as a main character in a new sci-fi show The 100 where she was to play the role of Octavia Blake.
The 32 year old actress had an argument inside a car with her 41-year-old boyfriend on Ventura (134) Freeway, shortly after midnight on August 5, 2018. Avgeropoulos was charged with hitting him repeatedly in the head, neck and arm, causing minor injuries, as per the District Attorney’s office. Her boyfriend has been asking for the charges against the actress to be dropped as he doesn’t consider her to be a threat.
