Born as Jacquelyn Ellen Smith on October 26, 1945 in Houston, Texas, she is an American actress and businesswoman. She graduated from Mirabeau B. Lamar High School in 1964. She went to Trinity University in San Antonio. After college, Smith relocated to New York City with aspirations of dancing with the ballet. Her career goals moved to modelling and acting as she landed assignments in television commercials and print ads, inlcuidng an ad for Listerine mouthwash. She was offered the role of Victoria Winters on the ABC daytime series Dark Shadows in 1968, but, she declined it. She became the “Breck Girl” for Breck Shampoo in 1971, and after a few years, she joined the model/actress Farrah Fawcett as the spokesmodel for Wella Balsam shampoo.
In 1976, she was cast in Charlie’s Angels, alongside Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. The show catapulted her to stardom and she even appeared on the front cover of Time magazine. She played the character of Kelly Garrett in the series and was the only original female lead to remain on the show for its entire run. She reprised the role by playing a cameo in the 2003 movie Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. She received a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Film for her titular role in the TV movie Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (1981). She starred in several TV movies and miniseries over the next two decades, including Rage of Angels (1983), George Washington (1984), Kaleidoscope (1990), and Nightmare in the Daylight (1992).she played a recurring role from 2002 to 2004 in the drama series The District and was seen as Olivia Hodges in two episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2012. Her other movie credits include Nightkill (1980) and Déjà vu (1985).
