Born on December 27, 1990 as Thea Megan Budgen/Trinidad in Queens, New York, she is an American professional wrestler, professional wrestling manager, and actress working with WWE where she appears on the SmackDown brand as Zelina Vega. Thea Megan Trinidad has Puerto Rican origins and she grew up watching professional wrestling with her father Michael and younger brother Timothy, and she was inspired by Rey Mysterio. Her parents divorced during her childhood, but, they continued as friends. She also used to practice swimming and baseball. Trinidad was 10-years-old when her father was killed in the September 11 attacks. He used to work as a telecom analyst for Cantor Fitzgerald at the World Trade Center and was on the 103 rd floor of the North Tower, at the time of its collapse. Trinidad’s mother Monique Ferrer contacted StoryCorps with the story of her meeting with her husband and her experiences on the day of the attacks and his death. StoryCorps created a short cartoon titled ‘Always a Family’ to honor his memory.
According to Trinidad, her father made her enter the world of wrestling. She was featured on an NBC special ‘Children of 9/11, aired on September 5, 2011. While growing up, Trinidad used to work as a counsellor on a camp for children who had lost parents on 9/11 and took part in charitable causes like Habitat for Humanity in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in association with Tuesday’s Children.
On February 20, 2010, she debuted for Women Superstars Uncensored (WSU), under the ring name Divina Fly in a battle she lost to Brittney Savage. After Tommy Dreamer discovered her, she wrestled in a tryout dark match at the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) Impact! It was reported on January 27, 2011 that she had signed a contract with TNA. On January 9, 2013, reports emerged that her contract with TNA had expired and she had exited the promotion. By June 2017, she had signed on with WWE and started training at the WWE Performance Center. As Zelina Vega, she became the heel manager of Almas, who beat No Way Jose on August 9 episode of NXT.
During the Superstar Shake-Up on April 17, 2018,Vega and Almas were drafted to SmackDown. Vega debuted on the May 15 episode where she accompanied Almas in a match against a local wrestler where Almas won.
