Cosplay is a portmanteau word formed by combining the words ‘costume’ and ‘play’. Though the actual act of costume play is much older but the actual ‘cosplay’ was termed late in 1984 when Japanese reporter Nobuyuki Takahashi used it after attending the World Con in Los Angeles.
