Poppy Montgomery is an Australian-American actress who got her fame by playing the role of an FBI agent Samantha Spade in the CBS mystery series Without a Trace. She had worked on the series from 2002 to 2009.
She was born on 15th June 1972 in Sydney. She is one of six children. Her parents kept their daughters name after flowers. Dropped out from the school at the age of 16, Montgomery traveled around Bali with her the-then boyfriend. At the age of 18, she came to Los Angeles to be an actor.
In Los Angeles, she signed with Julia Roberts’ former manager. She appeared in several television shows in the late 1990s include Silk Stalking, The Cold Equation, NYPD Blue, Blonde, Glory Days and many more. But she came under the limelight when she got the role of Samantha Spade for the drama Without a Trace in 2002. She attached with the series until 2009. She also played the character of Carrie Wells for the detective series Unforgettable. She also worked as the author of Harry Potter series J. K. Rowling in the biographical film Magic Beyond Words in 2011. Some of her films include Devil in a Blue Dress, Life, How to Lose Your Weight, Between and so on. She was in a relationship with the actor Adam Kaufman with whom she has a son. Their relationship lasted from 2005 to 2011. She then married to the director of lifestyle marketing for Microsoft, Shawn Sanford in 2014. They have a son and a daughter together. Montgomery holds dual citizenship, one for Australia and another one for the USA.
