She made her big-screen debut in 1961 with the film, Barabbas. She played the role of Janet Trego in the television series, The Beverly Hillbillies to which she was attached from 1963-1965. She appeared in the role of a telephone operator in the series, Mister Ed in 1963. She also played the role of a therapist in the series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. in 1965.

She also was cast in the role of Odile de Caray in the film, Eye of the Devil in 1966. She appeared in the role of Malibu in the film, Don’t Make Waves in 1967. She got fame for her role as Jennifer North in Valley of the Dolls for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award. Her last film, 12+1 was released posthumously in 1969. She was in a relationship with Philippe Forquet from 1963-1964. She also dated Jay Sebring from 1964-1966. She got married to Roman Polanski in 1968.
